Rita Gurung
I am a Clinical Psychologist and Psychosocial Counselor based in Kathmandu, Nepal. My practice integrates evidence-based therapeutic approaches with deep cultural sensitivity, providing compassionate mental health care to individuals, families, and communities across Nepal.
With experience spanning clinical, community, and research settings, I bring a comprehensive understanding of mental health challenges in the Nepali context. My work has taken me from clinical internships at TPO Nepal in Pokhara to community mental health programs in Janakpur, where I have provided direct counseling, facilitated group interventions, and contributed to mental health research.
I specialize in anxiety and depression, maternal mental health, adolescent well-being, trauma recovery, and substance use concerns. My therapeutic approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Problem Management Plus (PM+), and trauma-informed care — all adapted for the unique cultural and social context of Nepal.
I believe that every person deserves access to quality mental health care, regardless of their location or background. This is why I offer online sessions accessible from anywhere in Nepal, conducted in Nepali, English, and Hindi.
